Oud-Heverlee, Village centre

2020-03-27, Oud-Heverlee, Village centre

South of the Belgian city of Leuven is a large wooded area, which is the remnant of the ancient Charcoal Forest. In the west of this beautiful green environment is the village of Oud-Heverlee, where the center has recently been renovated. The protected townscape was strengthened and upgraded by paving the asphalted Dorpsstraat with classic-looking cobblestones. The sidewalk was widened and also paved, with new trees planted along the road. The square tree grates, model Stora, are supplied by ANAE, as well as the tree guards which are custom made for this project. Further down the Dorpsstraat, a tree with a tree bench has been placed in memory of a young deceased resident of Oud-Heverlee. ANAE supplied this tree bench, of the model Lavier with a diameter of 3 meters, together with tree grid Vida and a custom made tree guard.

Hoeilaart, Gemeenteplein

2020-03-19, Hoeilaart, Gemeenteplein

A few kilometers south of Brussels, near the border with Wallonia, is the town of Hoeilaart. In 2017, the renewed “Gemeenteplein” has been opened. This square is located in the middle of the village, at the foot of the Saint Clemens Church. Before, it was mainly a parking square, but the renovation has turned it into a real meeting square that serves as a meeting and recreation spot for locals and tourists. Naturally there are still parking spaces available and to protect the newly planted plane trees from traffic, they are equipped with ANAE tree grids and tree guards. These tree grids and tree guards are custom made and unique for this project. The sofas that complete the square are also supplied by ANAE and are of the Sazava model.

Sint-Baafs-Vijve, St. Bavo square

2020-02-20, Sint-Baafs-Vijve, St. Bavo square

In the Belgian village of Sint-Baafs-Vijve is one of the most valuable Romanesque churches in West Flanders. Originally, this St. Bavo church dates from around 1100 and was restored to its original Romanesque form at the beginning of the 20th century. The church in Sint-Baafs-Vijve is located right along the river Leie. This also applies to most other churches in this region that are built in the same era, because at the time the river was used to supply building materials. During the renovation of the area around the church, which was completed in 2018, this was no longer the case and the building materials were simply delivered by road. This includes the tree grates and bicycle brackets that ANAE supplied for this project. To protect the newly planted trees on the renewed St. Bavo square against traffic, tree grates model Dendre have been chosen which are powder coated in the same anthracite color as the bicycle brackets model Ter.

Groningen, Inner city West

2020-02-13, Groningen, Inner city West

According to forecasts of the CBS (the Dutch central statistics office) the population of the city of Groningen will greatly increase in the following years. To be prepared for the increasing pressure on the city center that population growth will bring, the Groningen city council decided to redesign parts of the center in advance. The design was made by the own city engineers of Groningen in collaboration with LOLA Landscape Architects and TOPOTEK 1, whereby car traffic and city busses were given a different route. In the western part of the city, this ensures that the "Aweg" and the adjacent "Astraat" will get a lot less traffic and results in a more pleasant environment for cyclists and pedestrians. The rest of the "Astraat", "Brugstraat" and "Munnekeholm" have also been renewed within this project, with the aim of making the entire center more pleasant and convivial. For this purpose, more trees have been planted which are equipped with ANAE tree gratings in the Linder model. To protect against the still present traffic, but also because of the suitability within the design for the complete inner city of Groningen.
