Project Amsterdam, Mercator sqaure

Office Quadrat from Rotterdam has made a new design for the Mercator square in Amsterdam. The original design of this square, only 12 years old, was indeed special, but it was considered chilly. The new design from atelier Quadrat has got more intimacy. A catering pavilion has been placed on the square, so that the square will not only be used from the sides but also from the centre of the square. On this square ANAE tree grates were used, Model Linder. The somewhat serious nature of this tree grate, in combination with the fine lines, makes the Linder model fits well to the surrounding buildings of the hand of Berlage.
